Martinu fest is a classical music festival held every year under the Czech Cultural Celebration cycle organized by the Ministry of Culture. The concerts in Policka take place in the Tyl House which is a newly reconstructed community centre in Policka, and in the St. James Church where Bohuslav Martinu was born in the tower of the church.
The festival features extracts from Martinu´s repertoire including violin and violoncello compositions as well as concerts of chamber and symphonic music.
This year the programme was very interesting. There was for example a concert of the brass quintet of the National Theatre, Bennewitz quartet, Russian pianist Vitali Berzon, Camerata Bohemica, a presentation about Charlotte Quennehen – Martinů or a performance of the dancing groups from a local music school.
Our school was at one of the concerts at the Tyl House. The concert was very exciting and all the students liked it.
